mortify (2007)

a happy monstery doggie. Drawn as a birthday gift for an artist buddy of mine.

dead man's party (2008)

cropped version of Dead Man's Party, a digital painting that consumed my soul for a few weeks. I wish I could remember the brush settings that I used on this. the evil dog there is my own Kermit. Artwork for a convention. Reposted here only because I still feel it's one of my better works. I can hardly stand this character otherwise.

trick or treat (2008)

Drawn for a convention. They wanted *annoying movie character* as a werewolf, doing something Halloween-ish.

upsidedown-ish (2008)

Created for use at a convention, but they ended up going with a different design. I still like this image very much. I know I used custom Photoshop brushes for this, but after I reformatted my laptop I lost those brushes and I can't seem to recreate them. Hopefully I will figure that out eventually.

coatimundi on my head (2008)

This entire image from start to finish was done just to show my mother how I worked in Photoshop, hehe. I wanted that Roger Rabbit look. I was in the ballpark, but not as close as I had hoped. Mom was tickled, I think.

modern chimera v 2 (2007)

I revisited this dragon again later on, when I came into possession of a Wacom Intuos 2. This is the first complete character study I did with it, in Open Canvas 2 with the rapid oils tool. And I think goache as well. I look now and still see anatomy failures that could be corrected, but overall I'm still happy with it 3 years later.

modern chimera v 1 (2007)

Issues with the head/neck and wonky musculature aside, this is still one of my favorite drawings to date. The sense of motion has been something I've tried to recapture when drawing this dragon in later years, and I haven't been able to nail it quite like this. I'll get it eventually.

the corgi with the most (2006)

a marker image of my dog in the guise of *annoying movie character*. at the time i was particularly proud of how rotten he looked.

hexadragon 2007

One of many hexadragons I've been commissioned to draw for Ksilebo over the years. This hexacritter is still one of my favorites, although I wasn't a fan of the eyeless bits. It was in the customer's description, though.

motormania 2006

It's not the greatest picture, but it's one of the few photos I have of the Mr Toad themed murals I did at "someone's" house in Cocoa Beach. Luckily I still have a photo of each weasel, and Winky as well. Mr Toad turned out the best, though. he was my favorite character. I assume these were painted over, but I hope they had a hell of a time covering them up ;)

digital dragon 2007

I don't care how old I get, drawing angry dragons will always be fun :)

koi school

The koi were also drawn for SMC; the would have gone onto messenger bags as well. there would have been sequins sewn into the water.

a rainbow of fudogs

these were done for SMC in 2006. They were going to be sewn onto messenger bags. The tails were going to have real fuzzies i think... i was very excited about the line, and pretty much crushed when the entire project was cancelled.

inevitable fanart 2007

I'm gonna draw more Terror Dogs one day, i am :)

happy birthday dad 2007

A birthday gift done for my father in Painter Classic and Photoshop. There is a lot of fail technique here; I was still learning. heck, as an artist I think you are *always* learning. You can never know all there is to know. Anyway, I am including this because I'm pretty certain this mishmash of characters and mascots had never been seen together before or since!
Featuring the Florida Marlin, the Miami Dolphin, Sebastion the Ibis from UM, Chief Osceola from FSU, and a trio of Margaritaville-bound featherheads. Dad loved it btw :)

Hogwarts Dragons 07-08

I get asked to draw dragons fairly often. This project had a nifty twist; each dragon was to be dressed in the Hogwarts school uniform, representing the Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Slytherin House. sorry Hufflepuffs, no dragon to represent you guys!

a corgi problem

This 2008 doodle was inspired by my pembroke welsh corgi, Kermit. I imagined that corgi's would have a rough time of it if they had to walk on two legs like people :) I'd like to revisit this concept again one day. Perhaps I will!

dragon in repose 2007

I swear I'll get to posting more recent work here soon! This dragoness at rest was done over the summer in 2007. In fact, It was painted in the Universal Orlando employee cafeteria before and after my shifts. I was still getting used to the Intuos at this point, and the lineart was drawn and scanned in, as opposed to being done entirely digitally. There isn't exactly a definitive light source either, that was something I started to pay attention to later. I still think she's a pretty one, I do.

D&D

Another older piece of artwork, and certainly not up to my current skill level I don't think. But notable as one of the first entirely digital commissions I ever did! This was drawn in Photoshop on a wacom intuos 2, and painted digitally in Painter Classic. Looking at it now, I see plenty of mistakes, but I was so proud of this back in 2007. It deserves to be chronicled!
Oh, curious about the subject matter? It's a Dungeons & Dragons role playing character. The species is half-dragon (don't worry if you're confused on that, i had to google it myself)

blast from the past

This is one of the older pieces of artwork I've decided to add here, and the first one I'll be sharing.
This is the late Corey, devoted best friend and beloved family member. I drew this as a Christmas gift to his owner in 2007; Corey had recently passed away, and I wanted to pay tribute to the little guy who had meant so much to my friend.
4 by 6 inches on smooth bristol board; colored with my brand new (at the time) Copic markers. This was during my white gel pen phase... I tended to overdo that back then.
